👋 My name is Peter de Vries, and inland shipping photography is more than just a hobby for me – it is my greatest passion.

âš“ Having once worked as a deckhand, I carry a deep-rooted bond with the inland shipping world. That connection with the water and the vessels has never left me, and today I bring it to life through my camera.

📸 With an eye for detail, I strive to capture not only the diversity of the ships themselves, but also the character of the profession and the people who keep it alive.

🌊 I was born in Grevenbicht, along the river Meuse, and shaped by the waters.

🏡 Now, at 59 years old, I enjoy a quiet life in Born together with my wife, our home, and our pets – a peaceful base from which I continue to pursue my passion.

🚢 My years as a deckhand on the ms Drie Gebroeders of Wolthuis and the ms Nexus of Pols & Roedig gave me invaluable experiences and memories. Those days on the water not only shaped me as a person, but also allow me today to photograph inland shipping from a unique perspective – one that comes from having lived it.

🌍 Through my photography, I hope to share this world with a broader audience, showing the beauty, strength, and stories of inland shipping that so often remain unseen.
